Dr. Tessa Kerre is a fan of graphic narrative, which is why she approached me to create a comics story for her book ‘Immuun voor kanker?’. As the book looks at new methods and concepts around dealing with the physical and emotional aspects around cancer, Betty’s story fit into it perfectly.

I had the honor of interviewing Betty and creating a comic story exploring her experience of losing a loved one to cancer. Betty shared her emotions, memories, love language and wisdom with me, and was wonderful in giving feedback and eventually appreciating and celebrating the outcome.

Later a panel from the story was also chosen as the cover illustration of the book.
